How to Shape Your Resin Creations with Artline Epoxy Resin

Here is some tips and usefull guidelines to shape your resin creations

1. Choose the Right Resin for Your Project

Liquid Artline Crystal → Best for thin layers, jewelry.
Medium-Viscosity Resin (Artline Honey Epoxy Resin) → Great for artworks, resin coasters, and wave effects.
Thick & Dome Resins (Artline Extra Honey Epoxy Resin) → Ideal for finishing coats and doming effects.

2. Shaping During the Curing Process

Epoxy resin goes through different curing stages:

Liquid Phase (0-2 hours) → Resin is fully fluid, suitable for pouring into molds and spreading.
Gel Phase (3-6 hours) → Resin thickens but is still flexible. You can bend or manipulate it slightly.
Solid Phase (12-24 hours) → Resin is firm but can still be trimmed or cut with a blade.
Fully Cured (24-72 hours) → Completely hard. Requires sanding, carving, or polishing to reshape.

⚠️ Timing is key! If you want a shape like a bowl, mold it during the end of Gel Phase or at the beginning of Solid Phase.
Check it every couple of hours until it gets to this stage.
Once the resin is soft, peel it away from the silicone mold.
Take the  sphere bowl or cup or glass, cover it with resin to help resin maintain its shape.

3. Shaping after curing : Reshaping with Heat

If resin is partially cured or thin-layered, you can gently heat and reshape it:
🔥 Heat Gun or Hair Dryer → Softens the resin slightly for bending.
🔥 Hot Water Bath → Can make thin resin sheets flexible again.
🔥 Oven Method (Low Heat, 60-80°C / 140-176°F) → Works for thin resin pieces.

⚠️ Caution: Avoid overheating, as it can cause bubbling or discoloration.

🥸PRO TIPS : Creative Shaping Techniques
💥Resin Doming → Pour extra resin on a flat surface to create rounded edges.
💥Bending Resin → Remove resin from the mold when it’s still semi-soft and place it on a curved surface (e.g., bottle for bracelets).
💥Experimenting & have fun → The more you practice, the better your shaping techniques will get!

You can paint edges with gold or silver pigment to give a complete look.

Cool! You just learned how to shape resin!

Look how the bowl turned out. It looks perfect - like made from glass.
