How to Make Your Own Silicone Mold with Artline Silicone Putty
Have you ever found the perfect shape for a resin project, but couldn't find the right mold?
With Artline Silicone Putty, you can create your own flexible silicone mold from small objects, decorative details, leaves, textures and other shapes, then use it for your epoxy resin projects.
The process is simple: mix, press, let it cure, and your custom mold is ready for resin. Let's see how it works!
What Is Artline Silicone Putty?
Artline Silicone Putty is a two-part mold-making silicone designed for creating small custom molds. Unlike liquid mold-making silicone, it has a soft, mouldable consistency, so you can shape it by hand and press an object directly into it.
It consists of Base A and Cure B, which are mixed in equal parts at a 1:1 ratio. Once cured, the silicone remains flexible and durable, allowing the finished mold to be used for multiple resin castings. A release agent is usually not required.
What Can You Make a Mold From?
This is where Silicone Putty gets especially fun. Instead of limiting your projects to ready-made molds, you can reproduce small shapes and surface details that inspire you.
For example, you can create molds from charms, pendants, leaves, small decorative objects, flat craft pieces or interesting textures.

- A clean, flat working surface
- Gloves
- Artline Epoxy Resin
- Pigments, glitter or other decorations for your final casting
Once your custom mold is ready, you can use it for your Artline epoxy resin projects and experiment with different colors, pigments and decorative effects.
How to Make a Silicone Mold Step by Step
Step 1. Prepare Equal Parts
Take equal amounts of Base A and Cure B. The mixing ratio for Artline Silicone Putty is 1:1 by weight.
Step 2. Mix Until Uniform
Knead the two components together until the putty has an even color and smooth consistency.
Once the components are combined, don't wait too long — Artline Silicone Putty should be formed within approximately 5–8 minutes.
Step 3. Shape the Putty
Form the mixed putty into a piece large enough to surround the part of the object you want to reproduce. Press your object into the silicone firmly enough to capture its shape and details.
Step 4. Let the Mold Cure
Leave everything in place and allow the silicone to cure for approximately 20–30 minutes.
Avoid moving the object while the putty is curing so the impression stays in position.
Step 5. Remove the Original Object
Once the silicone has cured, gently flex it and remove the original object. Now you have your own flexible custom mold!
The cured Silicone Putty has a hardness of 30 Shore A — flexible enough for demolding, durable for repeated castings.
Time to Pour Your Resin!
Now comes the best part — turning your new mold into a resin creation.
Prepare your Artline Epoxy Resin according to its mixing instructions, add your favorite pigments or decorative elements and pour it into the mold. Once the resin has fully cured, flex the silicone and remove your finished piece.
And because the mold is reusable, you can return to the same shape again and experiment with completely different colors, pigments and effects.
