About Shalina @teaandart

I have always been a creative person, a trait I inherited from my mum.
I studied Art, Textile & Fashion Design, Home Decor, and even completed an MBA in Finance and Marketing.
Resin itself inspired me because of how it molds into any shape and offers endless possibilities.
My aesthetic is generally dark 😁, though it varies with my mood,” — Shalina.

Through her channel, Shalina demonstrates different pouring techniques and shares her artistic evolution over the years — from experimenting with colors to mastering intricate effects.

💧1. Larimar Effect

Description:

The Larimar effect mimics the rare blue gemstone Larimar, known for its calming blue and cloudy patterns.
In resin, it creates a watery, layered look with flowing colors — perfect for coasters, trays, or decorative pieces.

🧰 Materials Needed:

  • Artline Crystal Resin – low viscosity

  • White, black, and blue pigments
  • Pearl or chameleon mica powder
  • Mixing cups, stir sticks, piping bag
  • Mold (coaster, tray, or shallow silicone mold)
  • Gloves, protective surface
  • Small crushed stones or glitter

🪄 Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1.  Mix Resin: Combine resin and hardener (2:1 ratio) gently for 4–5 minutes.
  2.  Divide Resin: Example: 210g total → 70g in two containers, 40g in one, 30g in one.
  3.  Add Pigments:
    1.  White: 4–5 drops
    2.  Black: 4–5 drops + mica
    3.  Blue: 3–4 drops + mica
  4.  Prepare Mold: Ensure it’s clean.
  5.  Pour Resin: Pour white base, then black and blue in the center. Add clear resin to fill. Optional — stones or glitter.
  6.  Cure: 1.5–2 days undisturbed.
  7.  Top Coat: Thin clear layer for depth.
  8.  Finishing: Demold and lightly sand edges.

💡 Pro Tips from Shalina:

  • Use low-viscosity resin for smooth, flowing effects — Artline Crystal is perfect.
  • Semi-opaque pigments = key to softness.
  • Don’t overmix — let colors interact naturally.

🐉 2. Dragon Flower Effect

Description:

The Dragon Flower effect creates layered, petal-like patterns with vibrant colors 🌈.
Using transparent pigments or mica powders, you can make 3D flower-like designs or encapsulate dried flowers for stunning effects.

🧰 Materials Needed:

  • Clear epoxy resin (~200g)
  • Opaque white resin (for dotting)
  • Colored resin tints or alcohol inks
  • Piping bag (for dotting)
  • Mold (coaster or shallow silicone mold)
  • Heat gun or torch (optional)🔥
  • Crushed stones or glitter (optional)

🪄 Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1.  Mix resin and hardener. Tint colors lightly.
  2.  Pour thin clear layer → then colored resin from edges toward center.
  3.  Mix white resin → pipe small dots on top.
  4.  Repeat layers to build depth.
  5.  Optional: glitter or gentle heat for flow.
  6.  Cure 24–48 hours.
  7.  Apply top coat → demold → sand edges.

💡 Pro Tips from Shalina:

  • Use high-viscosity resin. Artline Honey is a good choice

  • Use transparent colors — opaque pigments block the effect.
  • Patience is key: multiple dot layers create depth.
  • Every resin behaves differently — experimentation is part of the process.

🌼3. Blooming Effect

Description:

The Blooming effect produces flower-like designs that seem to unfold naturally.
Using medium-viscosity resin, colors softly blend into petals with delicate shading.

🧰 Materials Needed:

  • Medium-viscosity epoxy resin (Artline Honey)
  • Hardener (2:1 ratio)
  • Alcohol inks for colors
  • White resin pigment
  • Silicone molds
  • Toothpick or small tool 🪶
  • Heat gun (optional)
  • Gold foil or gilding glue (optional) ✨

🪄 Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1.  Mix resin and hardener gently.
  2.  Pour base layer → wait 20–45 minutes (affects bloom thickness).
  3.  Add alcohol inks (darker center → lighter edges).
  4.  Add white resin for petals using a toothpick or piping bag.
  5.  Shape petals gently.
  6.  Optional: add gold foil for highlights.
  7.  Cure 24–48 hours.
  8.  Top coat → demold → color edges if desired.

💡 Pro Tips from Shalina:

  • Waiting time affects bloom thickness.
  • Toothpicks allow subtle control of petal shapes.
  • High-viscosity resin helps form beautiful blooms. Artline Honey is a great option.

Whether you’re just starting or already experienced, these Artline resin techniques open endless creative paths 🪶
