🎨How to Color your Epoxy Resin with pigments?🎨

Do you know when pigments added, the mixing ratio between resin and hardener changes? 😳

This can lead to some unpredictable issues. That’s why some points should be considered:

1. The chosen pigments should be highly concentrated to avoid mixing ratio change.

2. If the pigment is very concentrating, you need just one drop or even a half of a drop😊 to color the resin. Make a test: mix a small amount of the two components and see the result. Does it meet your expectations?

3. Try to get a feeling for the properties of the pure epoxy resin and its handling. If you know how the resin reacts when uncolored it is easier to estimate how it might react in combination with the color medium.

4. The pigments used shouldn’t be water based, it is very unlikely for the mixing ratio between resin and hardener.

How to color Resin? ❤️💛💚💙💜

1. Prepare your workplace and all necessary materials: epoxy resin, molds, pigments, mixing cups, mixing sticks, electronic scales, plastic sheets, apron and silicone or nitrile gloves. When working with epoxy, the time factor is of great importance, as the resin cures very quickly, during application you need to be concentrated only on creating process.

2. The health protection has the highest priority, always wear protective silicone or nitrile gloves and protective goggles and breathing mask if needed.

3. Mix resin (A) and hardener (B) thoroughly in the mixing cup. Keep the manufacturer ratio.

4. Once two components mixed carefully, it’s time to add the pigment. Add a small amount of pigment to the mixture and mix well. Repeat this process until you have achieved the desired color and shade.

5. Please remember this basic rule: to avoid any negative effect the % of the color should not be higher than 5% of total compound (A+B)
