🌸 Flowers in Resin: How to Avoid a Bouquet of Mistakes 😬
🌸 Flowers in Resin: How to Avoid a Bouquet of Mistakes 😬
Here are the golden rules every resin artist should know:
Dried flowers must be… truly dry!
Absolutely no moisture. ❌
✨ Pro tip: Use silica gel if you want 3D flowers, or press them flat in a book for a vintage look.
Prep before pouring
Coat your dried flowers with a thin layer of Artline Crystal Epoxy Resin or hair spray.
This will:
– Seal in the air
– Preserve the color
Pour in two stages
First, create a 1–2 mm base layer of Artline Crystal Epoxy Resin. Use a torch to remove bubbles.
Then, place your flowers and let it cure for 10+ hours.
After that, pour the flowers completely with Artline Crystal Epoxy Resin.
If petals stick out – touch up bubbles with isopropyl alcohol. If fully in resin – you can torch.
If petals are still sticking out after the second layer
You can file them down to an even level and pour a thin 0.8–1 mm top layer of Artline Crystal Epoxy Resin.
Don’t rush! 🤗
After pouring the first layer, wait 20–30 minutes for the resin to thicken and stop “moving” in the mold. That way, your flowers are less likely to float.
