🌻How to Dry Flowers for Resin?🌻

Flowers are some of nature’s most beautiful assets🙌

As flowers do not live forever, it is a good idea to preserve them so you can enjoy them for many years to come. To preserve flowers, you simply need to dry them and then cast them in epoxy resin.

You can purchase real dried flowers online or you can dry your own flowers. It allows you to pick your favorite fresh flowers and dry them at home to use in your resin projects.

There are a few options of how to preserve dried flowers in resin:

🌻Pressing the Flowers in a Book🌻

To press the flowers, you can use either a flower press or a large, heavy book, either of which will assist in flattening your flowers.

🌻To begin, you need to pick your favorite flowers. You can pick the flowers at any stage of blooming. Do not forget to include the leaves if you want.

🌻Then you need to press the flowers immediately when they are still fresh.

🌻Place them carefully in the book between two pages. Or you can use absorbent paper or paper towel to protect the pages of your book from stains. If you have chosen to use a flower press as opposed to a book, you can use two sheets of any paper.

🌻Dry time is dependent on which flowers you have chosen to use. It is better to leave them for longer so to be sure that they are completely dried. It approximately takes at least 3-4 weeks.

🌻Once your flowers have completely dried out, you can put and keep them in a box.

This is quite easy method, you will not require any special equipment or items, but it takes time and flowers will be always flat.

🌸Drying Your Flowers in Silica Gel🌸

This is a quick option for those who do not want to wait!

🌸First, you need to prepare Silica Gel and containers.

🌸You need to pour a small amount (about 2-5 cm) of silica sand or gel into the bottom of the container.

🌸Cut the flowers, leave a little bit of stem on them. Carefully nestle the flowers in the silica so that they are standing in an upright position leaving room in between.

🌸Once you have placed your flowers in the poured silica, you can completely carefully surround the flowers in silica. Close container with a tight-fitting lid.

🌸Place your container in a dry and warm place and allow the flowers to dry.

🌸Silica dries flowers in 2-4 days. The silica turning a pink color is an indication that all the moisture has been absorbed, and that the flowers are dry.

🌸Once your flowers have been allowed sufficient time to dry, you can gently lift out and them from your containers.

🌸You can use a small brush to dust off any silica leftovers from the flowers. You can also spray the flowers with hairspray to stop them from breaking.

💐First, you need to remove all the leaves from the stems and shorten the stems.

💐Then you need to tie a piece of string around the stems of each flower or the whole bouquet.

💐After you need to hang up the flowers by attaching string to a coat hanger, hanging the flowers upside down to allow them to dry.

What a great article! Thanks for the detailed steps! Can I include the whole stem and place it lying on its side when drying with silica?
