Halloween Resin Effects: 4 Ways to Make Your Pieces Spooky
Want a resin piece that feels a little more Halloween without a whole new project? The secret is in the pigments and additives. A faint glow, a smoky haze, a flash of gold or a colour that shifts in the light can turn an ordinary coaster, tray or pendant into something spooky.
Here are four easy effects you can add to your pieces, with the Artline products to use for each one. 🎃
1. Glow in the Dark for Ghostly Pieces 👻
Add Artline Luminophore Powder to clear resin and the piece glows softly in the dark after it has been charged by light. Stir it in once the resin and hardener are fully mixed, and keep the amount small. The powder charges under light and glows for hours, so a little is enough for a spooky effect.
2. Smoke and Mist with Alcohol Inks 🌫️
Alcohol inks spread through clear resin like smoke or mist, which is exactly the mood of a foggy October night. Pour clear resin into your mold, then drop Artline Alcohol Inks in deep purple, orange or black onto the surface and let them bloom. The more you let them spread, the more the piece looks like smoke.

3. Gold Veins and Metallic Accents ✨
A little gold makes a dark piece look like an old spell book or a haunted lantern. There are two ways to add it:
- Metallic powder in the resin. Mix Artline Metallic Pigment Powder in orange into the mixed resin in small amounts for a shimmering base, then pour.
- Gold lines on the surface. Once the piece has fully cured, trace the veins with Artline Liquid Foil using the built-in brush. Liquid Foil works best on a clean, dry, fully cured surface, so wait until the piece is completely hardened before you add the gold.
4. Color-Shift Potions with Chameleon Pigments 🔮
Chameleon pigments change tone with the light and the viewing angle, which makes them perfect for "magic potion" pendants, small bottles and trinket dishes. The effect shows best over a dark base. Pour a dark layer first, then add Artline Chameleon Pigments on top or swirl them into clear resin. Turn the piece in the light and the colours will shift as you move it.
For a base that shows off the shift, Artline Pigment Pastes in black or deep colours make a good dark layer.

Before You Pour: Halloween Effects Checklist 🎃
- Warm up the roomWork at 22–25 °C and bring the resin to room temperature first.
- Weigh, don't guessMeasure resin and hardener by weight (2:1 for Crystal and Honey).
- Mix in two cupsMix slowly for 3–5 minutes, then pour into a clean cup and mix 1–2 minutes more.

- Wait before demoldingLet pieces cure fully: about 18–24 hours for Crystal and about 16 hours for Honey.
Pick One Effect or Mix Them All ✨
You don't need all four effects in one piece. A glowing jellyfish, a smoky coaster or a gold-veined tray is already spooky enough. Choose the effect you like best, grab Artline Crystal for clear details or Artline Honey for a medium-thick base, and share your creations with us on Instagram. 🎃
